Buyer Position Summary

The Buyer is responsible for the purchasing of all raw materials, supplies, and general materials for existing product lines.  This position will also develop and maintain effective supplier relationships, create purchase orders, maintain effective pricing information, expedite orders, and ensure on-time delivery.

 

Responsibilities

Buyer Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create purchase orders for tooling and tool related products
  • Evaluate purchasing suggestions and make determinations as to the details of the purchase
  • Works toward reducing material and subcontract costs through strategic supplier agreements, focusing on cost containment
  • Ensure deliveries are accurate and arrive on time
  • Improve on-time delivery metrics by collaborating and partnering with production, customer service, engineering, and quality to prioritize sourcing system improvements
  • Create and maintain approved supplier information in the database or ERP system
  • Develop and maintain effective supplier relationships
  • Investigate current spend and purchase price variance
  • Work directly with suppliers to maximize the company’s overall purchasing value and minimize PO purchase price variances (PPV)
  • Develop long-term strategies with suppliers to place the company in the best competitive position
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels for company owned inventory including disposition of expired and aged material
  • Work with applicable departments on invoicing discrepancies

Qualifications

Buyer Position Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3 years of experience with procurement
  • Outstanding communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent business acumen and judgement, willingness to challenge the status quo
  • Microsoft Office proficiency (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher)
  • Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask

 

Buyer Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Associate degree
  • CPP, CPIM, CSCP certification
  • 1 year of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in the medical industry
  • Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement experience

Cretex Companies use cutting oils, solvents, and other chemicals in the manufacturing process.  Testing is conducted on a periodic basis to ensure that all chemicals are kept well below the OSHA permissible exposure levels.

 

Pay Range

USD $56,400.00 - USD $84,600.00 /Yr.
