Lab Technician/Biocompatibility Technician Position Summary

This position is primarily responsible for working with Chemical Engineering to perform Biocompatibility testing and related tasks to support and maintain quality standards throughout rms Company.

 

1st shift:  Monday - Friday 7:00am - 3:30pm 

 

Responsibilities

Lab Technician/Biocompatibility Technician Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform cleanliness testing of orthopedic implants in accordance with ISO 19227.
  • Prepare and handle medical device samples for organic, inorganic, and particulate residue analysis.
  • Operate laboratory instruments such as gravimetric balances, GC, ICP-MS, TOC analyzers, and particle counters.
  • Perform and document chemical extraction procedures, including sonication, agitation, and rinsing.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed lab notebooks, logs, and electronic data entries.
  • Follow GMP/GLP and cleanroom protocols during sample handling and testing.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams for test planning, scheduling, and reporting.
  • Assist with equipment maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting.
  • Uphold rms company’s standards for quality and safety through continuous improvement activities and adherence to applicable environmental, safety and health regulations and policies.
  • Support validation and verification of test methods used in biocompatibility evaluations.
  • Participate in internal audits, inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support actions for implementing cost reduction projects with engineering and production employees.

Qualifications

Lab Technician/Biocompatibility Technician Position Requirements

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, biomedical engineering, or related field.
  • 1–3 years of experience in a regulated lab environment (medical device, pharma, or materials testing preferred).
  • Ability to follow SOPs and work instructions precisely with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong data entry, documentation, and organizational skills.
  • Comfortable working with hazardous chemicals and wearing PPE in a lab setting.
  • Team-oriented mindset with clear communication skills and problem-solving ability.

Lab Technician/Biocompatibility Technician Preferred Knowaledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of ISO 19227, ISO 10993, or related biocompatibility and cleanliness standards.
  • Familiarity with analytical methods (ICP-MS, GC-FID, TOC, UV-Vis, Microbiologic testing methods, and Cell culturing techniques).
  • Experience working in an ISO or GMP environment.

 Cretex Companies use cutting oils, solvents, and other chemicals in the manufacturing process.  Testing is conducted on a periodic basis to ensure that all chemicals are kept well below the OSHA permissible exposure levels.

 

Pay Range

USD $20.00 - USD $29.00 /Hr.

Pay Range Details

This pay range reflects the base hourly rate or annual salary for positions within this job grade, based on our market-based pay structures. Actual compensation will depend on factors such as skills, relevant experience, education, internal equity, business needs, and local market conditions. While the full hiring range is shared for transparency, offers are rarely made at the minimum or maximum of the range.
